REpower ties up 44MW turbine deal for Alerion project in Italy
REpower will deliver 13 of its 3.4M104 wind turbines to the San Marco in Lamis wind farm, north-east of Foggia, with construction due to begin in this autumn.
The turbine producer – owned by India’s Suzlon – has also signed a twelve-year service contract for San Marco in Lamis, which is located close to REpower Italia’s main service centre.
REpower chief executive Andreas Nauen says the deal is the German company’s second contract for the 3.4M104 in Italy.
It is also REpower ’s second deal with Alerion , which it supplied with 17 of its MM92 turbines for the Ordona wind farm in 2007.
Milan-based REpower Italia has installed 500MW of projects in Italy, making it the country’s third-biggest supplier.

Wind News - REpower, Alerion to build wind farm in Italy
REpower has teamed up with Italian renewable energy company Alerion CleanPower for a wind project in the south of the country.
REpower is set to deliver 13 3.4MW turbines to the project, San Marco in Lamis, equating to a 44MW facility.
The Italian-based subsidiary of REpower will start construction in the latter half of 2011.
Andreas Nauen, CEO of REpower, said the 3.XM series is well accepted on the Italian market:
‘This is the second contract for the 3.4M104 in Italy. It confirms the excellent market-fit of this turbine and strengthens our market presence in Italy.’
Headquartered in the city of Milano, REpower Italia sells the company’s multi-megawatt wind turbines in Italy and provides project management and after-sales service.
