A Cat's View of Take Your Dog to Work Day

Tomorrow, June 24, 2011, is “Take Your Dog to Work Day.” All of our canines friends are excited about going to work with “Mom” or “Dad” and helping them out with their job. But what about our feline friends? What do you suppose they think of the whole idea?

The CATalyst Council talked to their official “spokescat”, Stanley and asked him that very question. Stanley has provided us with 10 reasons for cats to celebrate “Take Your Dog to Work Day” , starting with this one:

“Your midday nap will not be interrupted by incessant, frenzied yapping sparked by the mail carrier’s arrival. Or a squirrel in the yard. Or the wind blowing the tree leaves. Or absolutely nothing at all.”

Read the post to find out the rest of Stanley’s reasons. They all make just as much sense as the first one. My cats would agree with Stanley, I’m sure, if they had a canine sibling.

When you’re done reading Stanley’s take on the whole dog thing, take a few minutes to explore the CATalyst Council site. If you’re not familiar with the CATalyst Council, their mission is to elevate the status of cats and improve the care that our cats receive. The CATalyst Council is “a coalition of the veterinary community, academia, nonprofits, industry and animal welfare organizations.”

I particularly recommend their Fun, Facts and Resources page. There you’ll find a ton of resources that will educate you, make you laugh and help you appreciate your cat even more.
