A Short Story: "There's A Bad Moon on the Rise"

“You niggers know who that boy was?” We didn't answer. Our eyes shot to the ground. My vision fell onto a small ant running across the gravel where we stood. What was he running from, I wondered? “I better not hafta ask you again, you little niggers.

Black people call themselves niggers, but that doesn't allow people who are not black to call them niggers. Yes, and Spurs fans are not calling Jewish people Yids, Spurs fans are calling Spurs fans Yids. It's the same as white hip-hop fans calling each

100 Years Later, A Black Man Finally Loves Joplin

According to Kimberly Harper's White Man's Heaven: The Lynching and Expulsions of Blacks in the Southern Ozarks, 1894 – 1909, in a move that was specific to blooded-up lynch mobs of that period and that region, there was then a call to "run the niggers

O „murzinach“ raz jeszcze

Czy Amerykanie zdążyli już przeredagować tekst znanej piosenki „Ten Little Niggers“(pierwotnie „Ten Little Injuns“) jak też powieść Agaty Christie pod identynczym tytułem - nic mi na razie nie wiadomo. Jeżeli jeszcze nie to zapewne niebawem.

I’ll be coming back to this point later, but before we begin, let us make something perfectly clear — ‘nigger’ is, at the very least, a taboo word in today’s society, seen as denigrating and racist. In Christie’s day, racism was perhaps more prevalent, yet the term ‘nigger’ was, and still semantically is, simply description. It is never the word that is offensive, but always the meaning that hides behind it. In

In the increasingly more obscure words of Max Bygraves, I wanna tell you a story .  I was reading my copy of this book on campus, sitting on the grass under the shade of a tree .  A shadow loomed up .

“What’s that?”  Uh oh.  What’s just happened is a rather burly chap has wandered up to me, and seems cross with the book I’m reading, just because of the title .  I have never been so certain I was about to die.   I thought about running.  Then I took a far more sensible course of action: I told him what I’m about to tell you; about the book itself.

Written in 1939, Ten Little Niggers .  To this reviewer, this chopping and changing is like removing Nazis from World War Two films because they are no longer acceptable , but besides changing a few words, the rest of the manuscript remains the same, and I’ll try to avoid touching on the subject again, but it is interesting to note that it still keeps its original title in several countries , including Spain and Greece.

As far as plot is concerned, Ten Little Niggers is truly unique — it is famous as a detective novel with no detective .   We begin with eight short chapters, each a vignette of one of the main characters travelling towards Nigger Island.
